Beijing 2008 Olympic Games NBC Schedule Day 6 Live Thread
Olympic Live Thread Goodness: Watch A Duo More Dominant Than Phelps Tonight
I know some of you out there are a tad Michael Phelps'd-out. Understandable. And while he's still swimming tonight (just some prelims) the primary focus tonight will be beach volleyball and women's swimming.

Beach volleyball's Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh, who haven't lost an Olympic match ever (they won gold in Athens), are going tonight against some poor fools who will be crushed unmercifully. And I'm going to love every minute of it.

We've also got Katie Hoff and Natalie Coughlin teeing it up in the women's 4x200m freestyle relay tonight.

And last, but certainly not least, American gymnast Jonathan Horton of the surprising US men's bronze medal team, goes in the men's all-around tonight.

[SPECIAL NOTE: USA Men's basketball team takes on Greece at 8am EST live on Thursday morning on USA. We will have a live blog for that game. Bring your coffee.]

Tonight's NBC Olympic Primetime Schedule

8pm to 9pm - Coverage of the women's road cycling individual time trial which is contested along a nearly 15-mile course near China's Great Wall. Often called the "Race of Truth" since riders race only the clock - the fastest time wins, no drafting or team strategies allowed. Also, the men's 3m synchronized springboard diving final.

9pm to 10pm - Already assured of a spot in the next round, Americans Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh play their final preliminary women’s beach volleyball match against challengers from Norway. The U.S. pair has not dropped a single set in nine career Olympic appearances and has won its past 103 consecutive matches.

10pm to 12am - Katie Hoff and Natalie Coughlin lead the American women's 4x200m free relay team in a swim for gold (LIVE ET/CT). Plus, the women's 200m fly, men's 200m breast, men's 100m free, and Michael Phelps continues his historic quest: On this night, no finals, but he swims to advance out of the 200m IM semis. American gymnast Jonathan Horton placed fourth in the men's individual all-around event at the 2007 World Championships and could figure in the medals here in Beijing (LIVE ET/CT).

Tonight's Insomniac Olympic Schedule

CNBC

12am to 4am - USA vs. Canada in preliminary round-robin softball (LIVE ET/CT). The U.S. has dominated international play, winning the past six world championships and the past three Olympic gold medals. Canada, meanwhile, placed fifth at the 2006 Worlds and is led by pitcher Lauren Bay, the younger sister of Boston Red Sox outfielder Jason Bay. Also, boxing elimination bouts in two weight classes (69kg welterweight and 81kg light heavyweight) (LIVE ET/CT).

USA

2am to 8am - Team USA plays Germany in the women's field hockey preliminary round. Also, USA vs. Netherlands in baseball, Roger Federer of Switzerland vs. American James Blake in a men's singles tennis quarterfinal, and fencing coverage of the women's team sabre competition -- which includes Americans Mariel Zagunis, Becca Ward and Sada Jacobson, who finished 1-2-3 in the individual sabre event earlier at the Beijing Games.

MSNBC

5am to 8am - In cycling, the men's individual time trial is contested on the same circuit used during the Olympic road race, near the Badaling section of the Great Wall. Riders race the clock over 29.58 miles and the fastest time wins. Also, swimming semfinals, Rafael Nadal plays his third-round men's singles match, and women's beach volleyball between teams representing Russia and Georgia.

women's beach volleyball between teams representing Russia and Georgia.

Well I can't envision that being the slightest bit interesting.

The Georgians are actually from Brazil, so not really.

Meanwhile, I can't believe NBC showed something other than beach volleyball, swimming, gymanastics, and diving. Oh wait, an American won the gold. That explains it.

Should be a somewhat hotly contested match.

How does one come to the conclusion that synchronized diving is their lot in life.
