Beijing 2008 Olympic Games NBC Schedule Live Thread Day 10
Michael Phelps is Done; Now What?
With swimming and Michael Phelps now done, the Olympics already feel less important. The main reason for that is there is now nothing live unless you're up at 3 am. Tonight's primetime schedule has no live events. Thus, pretend to be surprised during the gymnastics and track action that dominate the night. The highlights are the women's 100 m dash, and the women's floor exercise, aka Liukin/Johnson II.

NBC's Primetime Olympic Schedule

7 pm to 8 pm -
Bob Costas interviews Michael Phelps to discuss the 23-year-old's historic swimming results at the Beijing Games. Also, the first night of gymnastics individual event finals, track and field coverage that includes the women's 100m, and gold medals are decided in women's 3m springboard diving.

8 pm to 12 am - The first night of gymnastics individual event finals, including men's floor and pommel horse; the women perform floor and vault routines. Also, track and field finals, including a U.S.-Jamaica dominated women's 100m, and the women's 3m springboard diving final.

Insomniac Olympic Schedule

NBC

12:30 am  to 2 am
-
Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers of the U.S. play quarterfinal beach volleyball. Also, track and field finals include men's hammer and women's triple jump.

CNBC

12 am to 2 am - Softball: USA vs. China in a preliminary-round game.

USA

2 am to 8 am - Men's water polo (U.S. vs. Germany), synchronized swimming duet qualifying, flatwater canoe/kayak heats, and the U.S. vs. Great Britain in women's field hockey (LIVE ET/CT). Also, women's singles table tennis.

Q it up here.

According to the opener, NBC is going to show rowing tonight. Without spoiling too much, I'm guessing that is too allow some American gold to be shown in primetime tonight.

For all you people who hate NBC, just imagine if you lived in Hawaii. Nothing, I repeat NOTHING is shown live here. Even if it was live everywhere else, it's on delay here in Hawaii, so the things that are shown live in primetime elsewhere can be shown in primetime here, as well.

Damn, that sucks.  I can't imagine living with that.  Closest I get is when I have to watch a bunch of Wimbledon and the French on tape delay every year, but for you, it'd be akin to me having to watch the entirety of those tournaments hours after each match was completed.  I would be irate.

Not coincidentally, Wimbledon and the French are broadcast by the Peacock Network.

Well... sounds like you know how I feel. I've posted blogs on things that everyone else watched live on TV, and that I was forced to watch online on NBC's website, because the event wasn't being played here for another 3-4 hours.

It's not just Hawaii this happens in----I have the bags under my eyes to prove it.

I'm not complaining about losing sleep. NBC has certainly done everything necessary to make sure that their schedule allows me ample opportunity to sleep without missing big events. I'm just peeved at the fact that I haven't been able to see ANYTHING live. Nothing at all. Not a single Olympic event has been shown live in Hawaii. NBC's entire programming is on a several hour delay here, compared to on the mainland, so even things that are shown live in California, for example, are shown 3 hours later here in Hawaii. It's complete BS.

As far as I know, we have gotten nothing live in California----unless you count are local news team.
