Bill Belichick, the head coach of the New England Patriots understands that the Denver Broncos is a team that should not be under estimated. The under dogs had one of the worst start to the season with 4 defeats in 5 matches but since the admission of quarterback Tim Tebow into the first squad, the rookie has guided them to 7 straight victories.
The Patriots are 10-3 before they travel Denver this Sunday. The Broncos are 8-5 but the Patriots are on a 5-match winning streak. Broncos’ success can solely be credited to Tebow, who has been simply sensational for them this season.
Coach John Fox was critical playing Tebow earlier in the season but now he has been silenced by Tebow’s immense form. In his pre-match news conference, Fox told reporters that it would be an interesting matchup between Tebow and Patriots defensive line.
Quarterback Tom Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski have been the household names for the Patriots this season. Belichick would want his top guns to fire up their arsenal against the Broncos on Sunday as he declared to win the rest of the 3 matches this season.
In his pre-match press conference Belichick told reporters that he had closely analyzed the Broncos and found them to be a pretty good team. He praised the tactics deployed by Fox and extolled Tebow for his exceptional form.
“We've had a couple days here to really look at Denver; impressive team, been doing a great job,” Belichick said. “John Fox has them playing really well, they have a lot of confidence. They've made a lot of key plays at critical times to win a lot of games. Really, it's all three phases of their team are really impressive. They do a real good job on special teams - they have good coverage people, good return guys, good specialists.”
Commenting on their game play and tactics Belichick stated, “Offensively, they can run it, they have some big play receivers, the quarterback adds another dimension to the game. Defensively, they can rush the passer, they can cover, very athletic, fast, get a lot of turnovers on strip balls, strip sacks, take the ball away from you, [strip] running backs from behind, stuff like that.”
“They do a lot of things well; it will be a big challenge for us this week,” Belichick continued. “I'm sure there will be a lot of energy in the stadium. It will be a loud place to play, so offensively we need a lot of good execution. Defensively, we'll have to play disciplined against an offense that we're not really familiar with. Need a few good days of practice here to get ready to go.”
