I've always had a special place in my heart for the Big East tournament. Not just because it's always one of the most exciting postseason conference tournaments, but it always gave me a reason to skip class on Wednesday afternoon in addition to Thursday and Friday.
Gerry McNamara's run is probably only topped by Randolph Childress' run in the 1995 ACC Tournament. With how much depth the Big East has, it's always possible for one of these lower seeds to make a similar run.
To help us prepare for the Madness and fine tune our bracket prediction skills, we'll be previewing each of the conference tournaments the next few days.
What's at stake?
Georgetown or Louisville can secure a solid 2-seed in the Big Dance should they win in Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.
Notre Dame with a few wins can gain a surprising 3-seed and even the Connecticut Huskies could sneak up to a solid 3 with a Championship run.
West Virginia is mostly a lock, but a win wouldn't hurt to secure a berth.
Syracuse and Villanova will tip of the tourney with a bubble elimination game. 'Cuse could be in with a win Wednesday and definitely by beating Georgetown the next day. 'Nova would absolutely HAVE to beat the Hoyas to have a chance.
