First-year Big East commissioner Mike Aresco has revealed plans of adding a 14th member to the conference, according to the Associated Press.Blog Photo - Big East Football: Commissioner Aresco Wants to Add 14th Member

"We're looking at a 14th," he told reporters before Connectciut's matchup with Massachusetts. "I'm not talking about which ones. There are some obvious candidates, but we're not talking about raiding anyone and there are some independents that might potentially want to be a member."

Although he's declined which teams are being pursued, there has been rumor that Navy and Air Force are at the top of the list.

The Big East lost West Virginia to the Big 12 this year and will have to give up Syracuse and Pittsburgh to the ACC next July. Joining is Boise State, Houston, SMU, San Diego State, and Central Florida.

Aresco added that one of his top priorities is to make sure the league is nationally recognized as one of the best conferences.

Yes, because Temple, SMU, Houston, and Central Florida will help us be nationally recognized as one of the best conferences.
