Bilbao boss Bielsa wants Llorente to stay Chelsea and Liverpool prepare bids
Athletic Bilbao manager Marcelo Bielsa confirmed Fernando Llorente handed in a transfer request earlier this week. In spite of Fernando Llorent’s desire to leave the Spanish club, Marcelo Bielsa believes the striker will perform at his best for Athletic Bilbao till the end of the season.
Fernando Llorente has already declared that he has no intention of inking an extension deal with Athletic Bilbao as he plans on switching to a big club as soon as possible. This means a winter transfer move could be in action for the Spaniard.
Top notch European clubs have been after Fernando Llorente for the past two years. The list of clubs interested in acquiring the services of Fernando Llorente includes Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
The 27-year-old Spain international is speculated to make a winter move, but Marcelo Bielsa believes a transfer deal in January is quite unlikely.
“The situation is that the club have dismissed the idea of Llorente leaving in January,” Marcelo Bielsa said. “The position is fixed. His presence helps us. Nothing different than what was expected happened. An assessment would be called for if the situation was not the same as it has been up till now, but there has not been any change. He has spoken, as has everyone; nothing new has been added.”
According to some reports Fernando Llorente is pressurizing for an early exit due to harsh criticism from Marcelo Bielsa. The boss of San Mames Stadium claims Fernando Llorente should have no such issues from him. Marcelo Bielsa told reporters that he was just taking necessary action to prepare his team for the upcoming games.
“I only inform myself about things which I need to prepare the team,” Marcelo Bielsa said. “I do not go through all the information, just the minimum. I cannot judge everything that has been published about Llorente. There is nobody better than him to concern himself with conclusions.”
Fernando Llorente caught the eye of European football giants following his spectacular performances his last season. The center forward scored 29 goals in 53 appearances for Athletic Bilbao. Chelsea and Liverpool are eager to sign in Fernando Llorente during the January transfer window. Rife rumors suggest both clubs have already approached Fernando Llorente with a transfer proposal.
