It shouldn't be news that someone thinks Matt Millen needs be fired, but when it's a member of the Ford Family it qualifies.
The Lions ownership has been quiet throughout the seven straight years of losing and only offered support for the team's president and general manager. Monday, that message changed.
Bill Ford Jr. said what we know he's been thinking for some time: Matt Millen must go. Great news for Detroit, right? Well, one problem, the decision isn't up to Ford Jr.... yet. His father, William Clay Ford is captain of the Titanic, and for now he's trying to hit as many icebergs as possible. Sadly, his problem is that he can't see anything.
Baby steps, people.
The fact anyone in the Ford Family has spoken up (audio of Bill Ford Jr. with reporters above) -- it could have been a 4-year-old grandson -- is a step in the right direction. Maybe Ford Sr. can't see what's happening on the field, but there's a lot better chance he'll listen to his son.
That, or he'll quietly pass away, which is unfortunately what Lions fans are left waiting for.
