Arthur Blank thought he had the Big Tuna reeled in, but Bill Parcells put the swim move on Atlanta and joined some other fish.
Parcells has opted to take the same job with the Miami Dolphins, director of football operations. Good work by Wayne Huizenga to jump on the opportunity. As for Parcells decision, can you blame him? Wife probably prefers to living in Miami and after all I think the Dolphins are set up better for the future than Atlanta as surprising as that sounds for a 1-
Not everyone in Miami is impressed. Dan Le Betard thinks Huizenga took the bait on another big name that won't deliver equally big results.
"So today probably isn't the time to remind folks that Joe Gibbs and all his championships haven't done much of anything in Washington. You can find examples of failed saviors throughout sports entering to much applause and exiting in shame. Larry Brown didn't fix the Knicks. George Seifert, who has as many championships as Parcells, didn't fix the Carolina Panthers. Mike Ditka didn't fix the New Orleans Saints. Mike Keenan didn't fix the Florida Panthers. And Katie Couric hasn't saved CBS.
Parcells might indeed be better at finding talent than others, but he gets more credit for having done it than he deserves. His best days are behind him, which make him a blonder and older and more tired Jimmy Johnson.
Is Miami better today than it was yesterday? Maybe."
For Atlanta and Arthur Blank this represents yet another loss in the organization's most trying year. While Blank should be applauded for his relentless drive to please his fans, in this instance, he might be better off slowing down and thinking his next move over for a few weeks.
Do you think this Parcells move to Miami will turn the Dolphins around or is too much being made of his influence long after his successful coaching seasons?
