Bill Simmons Takes A Break from Spying on the Jets Long Enough to Tell You How Great the Pats Are
Vomit.In.Mouth. Come on, Bill. Wait at least until Week 2.
So many times in sports, a potential juggernaut gets built in the offseason and everyone goes overboard wondering about its invincibility. … And then, the season starts and the team doesn't look like a juggernaut. But "Patriots 38, Jets 14" was one of those times when the potential juggernaut actually looked more unstoppable than it had on paper. This was a complete and total decimation. That's the best way to describe it: A decimation.
Might want to wait out the NFL's judgment on the "Pats Spy" before calling this a juggernaut decimating a rival. There might be a reason the Patriots picked up every blitz, and found every hole in the Jets defense. It could end up being nothing, and there's no doubt the Patriots are impressive regardless, but come on Bill. Spare us the fellatio.

again-- you can't record defensive signals, analyze them, AND refer your analyzed information down to the offense in a mere hour. That is rediculous. Unless the Jets are utterly pathetic... you can't analyze a team in an hour while you are playing the game... i just don't see that as a likely possibility. The Patriots will prove to all that they are the most powerful team-- by whopping down the Chargers in week 2. Laterz

"Decimation" must be the ESPN.com/Pee Wee's Playhouse Word of the Day.

I suppose Bill should have also mentioned the Chargers' decimation of the Bears offense as well. It would have only been fair.

He should have if he could take his mouth of Bill Belichick. Might as well have tabbed the Lions as NFC champs since, you know, they won Game 1 in impressive fashion.

As much as it DOES seem a little early to be all over the Patriots' nuts, you gotta remember...people were predicting greatness all during the off-season. People were hyping the Brady-Moss duo, and saying that this defense would be ridiculous with the addition of Adalius Thomas. The hype didn't start because of the one win. It started when the Patriots took a team that nearly went to the Super Bowl last year, and made HUGE improvements in the spring and summer. This team is going to do great things...enjoy the ride.

No doubt they're going to be really good. But he might have wanted to wait until week 2 ... when they play the Chargers.

they should've put more attention on this game instead of focusing so much on the dumb Jets game... if anyone forgot, this is supposed to be LT's "Revenge Game!" lol

You may very well be right. I don't know, but it seems like an awful lot of trouble to go through when you have no idea if the signals will be the same the next time they play. The same guy that was taping the Jets was evicted from Lambeau for doing the same thing when they played the Packers last November. Why tape the Packers' signals if not for use in that game? The Pack aren't a division rival. Highly unlikely they'd be playing them two seasons in a row. So, I'm not so sure I agree with you.
