The native of Germany can be a dynamic pass rusher in the Colts 3-4 defense and he also has surprising good cover skills for a guy his size (6'3", 266 lbs.).

The Colts have their future on offense in Andrew Luck, so this draft was about getting better on defense and the offensive line. With the run on offensive linemen early in this draft, the Colts clearly saw Werner as the best value on the board.

Last season Werner was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year. He has 13 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, and was an altogether mence for the conference.

Werner has big shoes to fill in Indy -- Dwight Freeney's.
