Following Monday night’s loss to the New Orleans Hornets, Blake Griffin publicly criticized his head coach Vinny Del Negro.
“I think we tried to change some things, tried to change our schemes and some things we have been successful at and that hurt us,” Griffin said after scoring a career-low four points on 1-for-9 shooting. “I think we should play teams how we play every team. We made adjustments down the stretch when certain guys hurt us and I think we should have stuck with what we had been doing and what has made us successful.”
Del Negro went with a small ball lineup towards the end of the game, instead of utilizing DeAndre Jordan who only played 15 minutes. If the Clippers continue to win against good opponents, but fail to win against bad opponents, it may not be due to a lack of talent, but a lack of focus. The best head coaches in the league can keep their team focused and help their team win the games that they are supposed to win.
Don't look now, but Mike Brown may not be the only head coach that is out of LA this year.
