Blatter: MLS is going to a winter schedule
Duane Rollins of Canadian Soccer News posted an audio clip of Blatter stating this in definite, unmistakable terms in response to a question about MLS going to a "winter schedule".
Some are saying this is in contrast to MLS Commissioner Don Garber's comments. Garber said a winter schedule was "not in the short term". Contrary to what others have said, this is not a flat out "no"--except for the next two or three years. This, however did come after a flat out "no" seven months ago. And just on August 4, Dan Courtemanche said, "the league plans to stay with its current format."
So, can we take this as confirmation of the popular "Darth Blather" opinion of the FIFA President? No, or at least, not yet. The fact that Blatter said this may be significant.
Oh, God . . . here it comes . . . must . . . not . . . scream . . . . . . . . . QATAR!?!?!?
And now, add to that the fact that Blatter is refusing to move the 2018 World Cup out of Russia with everything happening involving the country.
Seriously, the accusations of bribery look a little more reliable, now.
UPDATE: Late that afternoon, Garber gave a diplomatic "screw you" to Blatter.
