A war between Real Madrid and the FIFA chief Sepp Blatter appears to be boiling up after the latter made controversial comments about Cristiano Ronaldo. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez sent a letter with Blatter’s name on it filled with complains about the comments he made on Ronaldo.

The Spanish media relentlessly pursued a video of Blatter that belittled Ronaldo. Highlights of the video saw Blatter patronize Ronaldo and made unnecessary comments on spending a lot of money on hair products and barbers.

In his post-training press conference on Tuesday, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti declared that he wasn’t amused by Perez’s comments and that the club had officially written to the governing body of football about it.

“I am aware that our president has sent a letter to FIFA,” Ancelotti said. “It is a lack of respect for a very serious and very professional player. I am with the president on this.”

Ancelotti further said that he hadn’t conversed with Ronaldo at the training on Tuesday, but the coveted Portuguese star had remained professional and focused towards his work.

“I did not speak [to Cristiano] about this,” Ancelotti added. “He trained very well as always. I believe he shows in all his games that he is a great player. Serious, professional and respectful to everyone. He must continue as he is and nothing else.”

Blatter made his comments after students from the Oxford Union Society asked him to pick a winner between Ronaldo and Barcelona star Lionel Messi in an interview conducted earlier this week. Blatter even got up from his seat to mimic Ronaldo’s playing style.

“Messi is a good boy that every father and mother would like to have at home,” Blatter said. “Really, he is a good man, he is very fast and he is not exuberant, he is playing well, he is dancing, he is a kind man, really good, a good boy. The other one [Ronaldo] is like a commander on the field of play… yeah that’s it.

“One has more expenses for the hairdresser than the other, but that does not matter. I cannot say who is the best. The [Ballon d’Or 2013] list will be published and then the public will make their choice. I like both of them, but I prefer Messi.”
