Covering all the bases from Thursday in baseball ...Chase Utley out 4-6 weeks Well that's just awful luck. A week after being forced to endure the organizations 10,000th loss, this probably isn't a season Philly fan favorite year. Making his major league debut, John Lannan (who had better watch his back/face) chased Utley up in and in hitting him square on his right hand. From Philly's best The 700 Level:
That is the low-life, worthless, piece of rookie trash that broke our MVP's hand this afternoon. Lannan has accomplished what few athletes can in such short time by forcing an entire city to loathe his very existence on planet Earth after only his first appearance as a Major Leaguer.
Utley played the remainder of the game (badass) but will not play for quite a while. Babes Love Baseball are offering their "support."
Boston 14, Cleveland 9 I just realized that this may be the first day I've included Manny in the studs & duds. He hasn't had a bad season, but apparently hadn't had a memorably prolific night. Until last night. Manny was just being Manny when he sent one deeeeeep out of Jacob's Field. Tip of the hat to Cliff Lee who sarcastically tipped his cap when leaving the field after an awful performance.
Trade News: Braves have reportedly offered a package of Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Matt Harrison, and Elvis Andrus for Mark Teixeira. Is that enough if you're the Rangers?
Dodgers 5, Colorado 4 Brad Penny wins his 13th, but not before leaving with a "stomach cramp." I knew it!
Bonds Watch: *YAWN* 1-4, 2B
