Covering all the bases while wondering whether we could get Joe Miller in a Don Cherry get-up ...
Alfonso Soriano now worth 1/2 his contract Chi 7, Mil 2 The finger has been pointed at just about everyone on the Cubs roster (except D Lee) for the horrid start. One guy who has the talent to make up for an abysmal bullpen is Soriano, and it's about time he delivered with a clutch hit. Total on the year: 1. While Cub fans continue to figure out ways to work trades, I'll just be looking for the $130 million man to at least earn $65. Oh and then there's this: Cubs will win the NL Central (he's not even a Cubs fan).
Now walk it off, Eric Chavez Oak 5, Bos 4 New night, new batter, same result. Chavez walk-off 11th inning home run saved what was another quality start from Dan Haren, and another Bobby Crosby blown scoring opportunity in the bottom of the 9th. I caught the last 4 innings of this game and it's easily among the most exciting of the year. Mark Ellis should also deserve more than this passing mention, he did hit for the cycle and all.
Orioles Bullpen quite Oriolesque Sea 7, Bal 4 In all seriousness, I'd start making sure someone check on Erik Bedard each night. No man should be able to endure this many bullpen collapses over a 2-year span. A 4-3 lead heading into the bottom of the 8th got the Bradford/Parrish treatment: Meaning 4 runs on 5 hits. Game over.
Not so Angelic against the Twins LAA 16, Min 3 Is there some bad blood here? Did I miss something? Did Jason Miller say something about someone's momma? Leading 8-1 heading into the 8th, the Angels added 8 more for good measure complete with a Gary Matthews Jr grand slam. Just going to take a wild guess and say an Angel or two gets beaned tomorrow.
Feel free to add on to anything important I left out.
