Covering all the bases ... and black eyes from a Friday in baseball ...
There's only one rule about Fight Cub Atl 8, Chi 5 You must completely embarrass yourselves. If you haven't seen the Cubs dugout fight yet, check the video here. While most of you probably spent your Friday evening cavorting about with friends/family, I joined in with the rest of Cubdumb here trying to figure out where the team goes from here. General consensus: (besides trading Jacque Jones) trade the mental midget that is Carlos Zambrano to the Mets. Minaya has wanted him for years, let's get what we can for him. Why trade away that talent? Two words - head.case. I still contend he's hiding an injury, so sending him away doesn't concern me. Any trade suggestions?
"Yanks show some fight" NYY 9, Bos 5 If you're going to take out frustrations, do it with the other team. A couple brushbacks, ejections later and Joe Torre was pleased with the effort. Jorge Posada's big 3-run double in the 4th aided a 6-run inning that Boston could not come back from. No need to get too excited about the pinstripes, but they are out of last place: hoorah!
Cleveland > Detroit Cle 12, Det 11 Whether it's baseball or basketball, Detroit is sporting an 8-game losing streak against Cleveland. An 11-7 lead in the bottom of the 9th appeared safe ... then Victor Martinez blasted a 3-run HR and the Indians knew they were going to pull it off. David Dellucci singled in the winning run a few bats later. 2nd straight blown save for Todd Jones.
Into the Webb of 8-straight wins Ari 5, NYM 1 Despite playing against MRI outfield (Mets Recently Injured), Brandon Webb was nearly unhittable.
Diamondbacks are now tied with LA for the West lead.
Feel free to add on to what I left out ... and or laugh at the Cubs. (Image courtesy of Comcast SportsNet)
