Covering all the bases from Friday night in baseball ...
Barry Bonds at 754 Locked in last night, Barry got a 1st inning pitch. That was the only one he saw and crushed it to left center. But I'm still hung up on what happened aferwards -- What was up with MJ? Michael Jordan provided a post home run video message: (ruining the memory of at least a dozen game winning shots in the process) "Hey Barry, it's Michael Jordan," his message said. "I just want to congratulate you on your historic event. I'm very happy for you. Ever since the first day I saw you in the batting cage, you've been working toward this for a long period of time. So I want to wish you and Elizabeth and that beautiful girl of yours congratulations. I'm very happy for you."
Indians 10, Twins 4 That didn't take long, Kenny Lofton (batting 2nd) was 3-for-5 in his return to the Tribe. Looking at the schedule it appears Cleveland and Minnesota only play each other for the next two months. Seriously, look at it.
Angels 11, Tigers 6 Gary Matthews did his thing, robbing a Craig Monroe Grand Slam (yes, he actually hit the ball) then drove in 3 runs of his own. Just about everyone drove in runs as Nate Robertson's performance was uninspiring.
Reds 5, Cubs 4 Stupid Cubbies. Why on earth do they always struggle to be the Reds? Back during the '03 playoff run we had a name for Joe Borowski -- "nervous" -- because he scared the sh** out us whenever he pitched. "Bad" Howry is quickly winner over the moniker this year. Here's to Jim Hendry acquiring a pitcher by the trade deadline. BCB suggests a deal for Garland.
