Covering all the bases from Thursday in baseball ...
White Sox 13, Yankees 9 Most runs ever in the 2nd inning. I'm just amused they've actually kept this statistic and acknowledge it as a "record." The Yankees have been raking in all kinds of runs late, no thanks to A-Rod of course, Thursday they gave plenty back. Thanks to Roger Clemens. Yep, Roger (who wanted to confirm he stunk above) gave up 8 earned runs in the 2nd inning. Only to have Jon Garland return the favor in the bottom half. Impressive work.
Ned Yost has his Lou Piniella Moment (Mets 12, Brewers 4) Ok, maybe not quite, but it appeared Yost got into it with Tony Graffanino and Johnny Estrada after they were defending a teammate. Perhaps this was calculated disagreement, intended to spark the Brewers who've fallen into a first place tie (technically behind by .001).
Astros 12, Braves 11 You'd hardly believe this game was decided by a pitcher coming up clutch. 33 hits, 23 runs. But it was actually pitcher Jason Jennings, pinch-hitting in the 14th, who drove in the game winning run. Go figure.
Home Run Derby Curse? If there's a case to be made for such an occurrance, Vlad Guerrero would be the example. Vlad's 30 game slump finally ended with 2 home runs last night (Angels 6, A's 4)
