Covering all the bases from a makeup night in baseball, whether it was scheduled or not ...
That's not how you pay them back Sea 8, Cle 7 Paul Byrd was eager to finish what he started two months ago. He was pissed and hadn't forgot watching the Mariners laugh there was into the clubhouse after getting away a final at bat calling of the game. So what did he do in the make-up game? Doubled Raul Ibanez season home run total and gave up 9 other hits in lousy start. On the bright side he wasn't credited with a loss, the Indians came back from a 7-0 defecit, but then were subject to more Ibanez domination (yep, just wrote that). We should start taking the Mariners (34-26) seriously, what do you think?
It might be, it could be, it is Z Chc 2, Hou 1 This was another makeup from the first week of the season, but also a chance for Carlos Zambrano to make up to Cubs fans. The title of BCB's post says it all - Dear Carlos, All is forgiven. Love, Cubs Fans. I'm not quite up to forgiving just yet, but it sure is nice to see the Carlos Zambrano who'd like a big contract. If it takes player fights to set them straight, then by all means, let's have a weekly Fight Cub.
Phils get rid of the stink Phi 3, Chw 0 Fortunately the Phillies had a chance to immediately makeup to their fans following a 17-5 loss to the Royals. No one needs a night off with that embarrassment litering your mind. Three home runs (Howard, Rollins, Burrell) was plenty against the White Sox offense that's, yes, offensive. White Sox fans are already looking to next year after another shutout.
747* SF 4, Tor 3 A couple days after getting yelled at from his mom, Barry Bonds made up for his lousy start to June and inched close to A-a-r-o-n (Hey, I can spell HIS name). Damn. I was really starting to enjoy this drought.
Mets can't dodge another loss LAD 5, NYM 3 It wasn't long ago I gave serious consideration to New York as one of the best teams in baseball. Injuries and the inevitable shakiness of the pitching staff are presenting itself. No need to worry too much, but the Mets brand of baseball over the last two weeks (2-8) in no way resembles that of the previous 8.
I didn't mention this yesterday, but what do you think of these new ESPN Player Rankings? Feel free to add on to anything I've left off.
