Covering all the bases from a Thursday in baseball ...
Pay the Fans! Bal 6, Padres 3 You've likely seen the highlights, but as Scott Van Pelt called identified him, "a swinger" in a luxury box just started tossing dollar bills out the window. Considering the Padres were beaten by Orioles on consecutive days, it's not a bad idea to pay the fans back.
What was a bad idea ... Miguel Tejada batting in the first inning to keep his consecutive game streak alive, then retiring to the dugout. Bogus.
Sour Taste of the Rockies Col 4, Yankees 3 So much for the streak. Swept by the Colorado Rockies. I didn't know this until now, but the Rockies have the best record in baseball over the last month.
Another day, another way to lose Rangers 6, Cubs 5 I give the Cubs credit; they at least try to lose in spectacularly painful ways and win at that game. They've lost often by stranding runners in scoring position, but never have they left 13 ... yes, 13 runners on base. That is all.
Games I have nothing to add: Mariners 3, Pirates 0 ... Dodgers 8, Jays 4
What's the best Interleague series of the weekend?
