Covering all the bases from Thursday in baseball ...

I think we know what the story was last night -- Rick Ankiel homered in his return to the bigs as an outfielder. If you can make Tony LaRussa get emotional in the dugout and press conference you know you're leaving a lasting impression.

Other than awesome, I think we need a name for a game winning catch over the wall. Also, do you think Chipper Jones can convince MLB to allow Atlanta to play some home games at Shea next year? Chipper would be MVP without a doubt.

Devil Rays 8, Tigers 1 Detroit has just forgotten how to play baseball. How else do you explain this slide? It's gotten so bad I think it's affecting the health of Tiger bloggers out there. Bless You Boys went all Matrix-y on us this morning. Despite being hilarious, it has me concerned.

Mariners 13, Orioles 8 FYI, Seattle does still lead the Wild Card. Just a hypothetical, but let's say the Mariners either win the WC or pass the Angels to take the AL West --- Who wins AL manager of the year? Mike Hargrove or John McLaren.
