I'll leave the studs (Pujols/A-Rod) and duds (Renteria/Glavine) up to you for Sunday's games. To mix it up I thought I'd start with our MLB Fan Rankings on Monday morning. For the first time in many weeks, we have some debate as to who's the best in baseball. Here's my top 5 for Week 10:
1. Red Sox 40-22 Despite losing 3 of 4 to Oakland, a win over the Diamonbacks keep them atop my list. Still the best rotation in baseball. If JD Drew could contribute consistently there'd be little debate
2. Angels 40-24 If Los Angeles was on ESPN twice a week, there's a good chance they'd be getting some play as the best team in baseball. Instead, they're quickly plotting along with 2nd best record in the league.
3. Indians 37-24 I'm going to overlook the series loss to dreadful Cincinnati in favor of C.Y. Sabathia and Fausto Carmona and enough offensive fire to hold the 3 spot.
4. Tigers 36-25 Question: Who (by far) has the most runs scored? Answer: Detroit baseball (373). 23 runs over the weekend against the Mets sure helped.
5. New York ... Yankees 30-31 Yep. 6 straight wins. The loaded lineup is finally producing all at once, and the clubhouse is filled with confidence. The Yanks aren't going to catch Boston anytime soon, but as of this morning they're one of the better teams in the league even with dreadful depth on the pitching staff.
And yes, this was my MLB rankings not just AL. Take a look at the cumulative Interleague results and it's not hard to figure out who's way ahead of the other.
