Blogs: Reaction to the Barry Bonds Indictment
As I eagerly await for the special 12 pm Sportscenter covering all things Barry Bonds and regurgitation, here's some more interesting reactions from around the blogosphere:

Barry Bonds is lucky man [Larry Brown Sports] - "So if Bonds is facing several charges of obstruction of justice and perjury, how can he be lucky? That’s easy: MLB allowed him to break the record. I have no doubt that they waited until the offseason to indict Barry. They could have brought these charges about in the summer before Barry broke the record. In fact, parts of me (OK fine, all of me) wanted them to indict Barry on his way to the batter’s box, stuck on 755. They were generous for holding off on the indictment until now. They got their investigation extended months ago, meaning they had a strong case all along. So why wait until now? Because they didn’t want to mar the season. I couldn’t think of a more appropriate ending to Bonds’ career."

* [The 700 Level] - "I always thought his head looked a little funny."

Greg Anderson: The Most Loyal Friend In Sports [Lion in Oil] - "Lost amongst all the hoopla surrounding the indictment is the fact that Bonds' trainer Greg Anderson was quietly released from prison today. You know him as Barry's best friend, and trainer. Vick's friends? They sold him down the river (perhaps rightly so), cutting deals for themselves. But not Anderson. Contempt of court? He didn't care. Anderson stuck by his friend, refusing to snitch. Three months in prison, three months house arrest for him. He stood by his friend through thick and thin. Would you do that for your best friend?

Greg Anderson for the most part may be a bad guy. He's plead guilty to distributing steroids and money laundering. But first among all other things, he's a loyal friend. Do you have friends like that?"

Isn't There a War Going On? [Yankees Chick] - "Thursday, November 15, 2007 Barry Bonds was indicted on 4 counts of perjury and 1 count of obstruction of justice today, all stemming from his gigantic head and the fact that said gigantic head made it very obvious that he is or was a juicer (oh and I guess they have some actual "evidence", too, but really, that head size pretty much seals the deal in my mind). I'm all for cracking down on cheaters and I'm glad Balco B is finally feeling some heat, but I feel I must point out the asinine nature of this: our government is spending time (and my money and yours, assuming you pay taxes you dirty tax evaders) tracking down and prosecuting big-headed athletes whose only crime essentially boils down to douchebaggery. Pardon me, Mr. President... can we please focus on resolving this hack-job of a war you have us all involved in? Oh, what's that? You're too busy talking about baseball with Senator Mitchell? No problem, I'll go ahead and let the troops know they're going to be stuck in Iraq for another few years. They won't mind so long as they can rest assured that cheaters are not allowed to prosper!"

Lastly, you'll enjoy this Giants blog take ...

BONDS INDICTED [McCovey Chronicles] - "Instant analysis and opinion. Relevant point. Examination of an angle to the story you hadn't thought of yet. Platitudes. Memories. Anecdotal evidence. Unqualified legal analysis.

Critique of other opinions. Pithy comment. Rhetorical question? Possible answer. Finger-wagging. Finger-pointing. False bravado and mock outrage. Name calling. Not in my America.

The same thing you just read, phrased differently. Something underlined  for emphasis. Reference to another famous scandal. Moment of silence for America's innocence.

Overblown conclusion."

Any additional thoughts on this whole Barry Bonds matter or responses to the blogs above? Feel free to share them here.

The thing that bothers me most is that we wasted 4 years and who knows how much money to go after one guy after something that ultimately doesn't matter at all.  Unless they plan on going after every single one of these guys like this (and God I hope they don't) then this is a witch hunt.

Edit: Um, can ESPN at least mention that Derek Jeter might be cheating our tax system?  Thats a whole lot worse than whether or not Bonds knew he took steriods.

The Bonds indictment is important because he broke the home run record and will soon break the 3,000 hit mark if he continues to play. All while cheating.
