Great news for all of you who like college basketball coaches who choke their players and make beyond inappropriate comments comparing a blowout to rape. Bobby Knight says he's interested in returning to college basketball.
“I got nothing else to do. It would just depend on the circumstances,” the former Army, Indiana and Texas Tech coach told host Mickey Maurer on “Mickey’s Corner” on Indianapolis public TV station WFYI.
Personally, I think the game passed Knight by about, oh, 25 years ago, but who am I to judge. I must say that I did appreciate his comment during the interview on NCAA programs that are caught cheating.
“In college basketball, if you get caught cheating, they should shoot you because you’re too dumb to be alive,” he said.
Is there anything Knight says that isn't completely over the line? I don't think so, but then again, that's why we love him. So, in honor of his potential comeback, let's take a look at what we're likely to get should he manage to find a college that will hire him.
Here's a few f-ing more clips for you of Knight doing what he does best.
1993 Tournament: Bobby turns a water glass into a genie to read the future.
The infamous Calbert Cheaney whipping incident. Knight, as a joke, pretended to whip his players, because who doesn't do that. Here's the shot that appeared in a local paper of Knight whipping Cheaney, which not so surprisingly got the NAACP a little upset.
Here's a run-of-the-mill exchange with some reporters after a loss to Missouri. Run-of-the-mill by Knight's standards, of course.
Bobby attempting to golf (not safe to play at full volume at work)
Bobby goes all Chris Berman on his Hoosiers TV show (once again, not safe at high volume if you're at work)
And of course bringing his grandson to the press conference last year.
As far as I'm concerned, just for the sake of humor alone, Bob Knight should indeed come back. No question about it.
