I realize the guy blew a save last night, but DFA'ing Bob Wickman seems, on the outset, like a gross overreaction. He was 10th in the league in saves, and had converted 20 of 26 save opportunities while sporting a 3-3 record, and 3.92 ERA. That's not the lights out closer every team dreams about, but that's also not Gas Can-esque. As Talking Chop points out so well, and he should know, leave it to the Braves to point to a clubhouse problem. Better yet, it's Andruw Jones who offers some criticism (haha!)
"If it's not a save situation, he was not happy about it," Andruw Jones said. "It's not fair to the team. It's not fair for the manager. The way he was going about this business, separate from everybody.I'm sure many Braves fans are glad to see Wick departed, but I promise there's going to be a late September night when they'll miss a quality reliever. He'll be picked up quickly."We're a team. Everybody has their own attitude. Everybody's got their own feeling about each other. Everybody's got their own way of going about their business. But when we put a uniform on and we're all together, we're all as one. And we need guys who want to go out there and perform."
