"As far as I can see, it's just another golf course."If you follow golf with any consistency, it shouldn't surprised you that Boo Weekley was unimpressed with Augusta National, home to the Masters. I get the impression the only things that get Boo's blood moving are 10-pound bass, 12-point Buck, and other "racks" of similar abundance.
Look up Good 'ol Southern Boy in the dictionary and you'll find a Boo Weekley, dip and all.
Weekley was one of the last invitees to the Masters Championship after last week's Houston Open and rather then head directly to Augusta, Georgia, Boo was headed home. Why? He had no idea when the Masters took place. He'd never even watched the tournament on television.
After his practice round, Boo was asked what he thought of the famous Amen Corner.
"I couldn't tell you which holes they were. I just go out and play, and figure out the names later I reckon."What about the all the statues of famous golfers throughout the course?
Oh I saw 'em but I didn't look at them. It was like, "hey there's one over there", and I was like, "oh really?"Hogans Bridge?
"Which one is that?"Best of all, and a line that probably sums up Milton, Florida native, he was asked how he'd handle the course this week.
"I just play it as it is. It's caveman golf. Hit it, find it and hit it again."The biggest story this weekend figures to be Tiger Woods and his chase toward a fifth green jacket, but wouldn't it be something if Boo Weekley were also in the hunt. We know he prefers deer, but I doubt he'd mind chasing a Tiger this week ... if even knows who that is.
