Borussia Dortmund confirm selling Robert Lewandowski to Manchester United
Borussia Dortmund’s coveted forward Robert Lewandowski is set for a winter switch to Manchester United. Reports from Germany and England confirm Robert Lewandowski has signed in by Manchester United for £12 million.
The motive behind the signing of Robert Lewandowski is still not clear, apart from the fact that young Poland international came at an incredibly reasonable price. Reportedly, Manchester United has agreed to a gentleman’s contract with Borussia Dortmund and Robert Lewandowski on the transfer matter.
The real deal will occur once the winter transfer window open in January. Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will break his tradition by signing a player in the January transfer window.
The Scotsman appears to be a big fan of the young Pole, who has scored 14 goals in 23 appearances for the Bundesliga champions this season. Manchester United are in no need of adding another striker to their attack force, therefore bringing Robert Lewandowski to Old Trafford might be too much for Sir Alex Ferguson to handle.
Manchester United’s attack force comprises of Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie, Danny Welbeck, Javier Hernandez and Nick Powell. Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie are already overshadowing the younger crop of Manchester United players, therefore the addition of Robert Lewandowski could further increase playing-time problems in Manchester United’s attack force.
A number of clubs have approached Borussia Dortmund with interest in Robert Lewandowski, who has scored 10 goals in 16 league appearances this season. Top notch clubs from across Europe such as Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have shown a lot of interest in Robert Lewandowski over the past six months.
Manchester United have been trying to sign in Robert Lewandowski for over a year now. Borussia Dortmund’s Sporting Director Michael Zorc has declared that Robert Lewandowski’s transfer to Manchester United is a “done deal”. Reportedly, Robert Lewandowski has inked a five-year deal with the Premier League leaders.
Manchester United have scored 43 goals against Premier League opposition in 17 games, which clearly shows that the English football giants are having no problem in scoring goals. Therefore, it appears as if Manchester United were just hung up on signing Robert Lewandowski for an extremely reasonable price.
