Mandatory Credit: Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY SportsHe's not one of the more popular Heisman Trophy candidates, but Boston College running back Andre Williams is quietly having a season for the ages.

With one game remaining in the regular season, Williams has 2073 rushing yards. That's good for an average of 188 yards per game. He's averaging 6.5 yards per carry, and he also has 16 rushing touchdowns.

Williams' play is a huge reason Boston College is 7-4 this year, after finishing 2-10 in 2012.

The folks over at ESPN have just now started to give him a little attention in one of their embarrassingly cheesy "Final Verdict" segments, and it's definitely well deserved.

This weekend against Maryland, Williams had 263 yards and two touchdowns. He helped lead a huge BC comeback, pulling them to within 4 points with a 72-yard rushing touchdown in the 4th quarter.

As great as that run was, his stiff arm against Maryland DB William Likely in the 1st quarter was an absolutely insane signature play. Williams tossed Likely aside like a rag doll on his way to a huge gain.

Boston College might not be an elite program, but Andre Williams definitely deserves some serious Heisman consideration.

Hopefully the voters see it too, and give him the recognition he deserves.

No reason why Williams shouldn't be invited to New York to be a part of the Heisman award ceremony
