He was just another young goaltender who was probably a few years away from getting a shot in the NHL.

Now, he's the guy who outplayed 2-time Vezina winner Tim Thomas in the first round, and has (so far) taken the #1 seed New York Rangers to a 7th game in their 2nd round matchup.

After the birth of Benjamin Hunter Holtby yesterday, you can add "Dad" to the list of new titles and accolades for the Capitals goalie.

That's always an exciting time for a young father, but will it affect his play on the ice?

As someone who watched almost every second of the series between the Capitals and Bruins, I kinda doubt it. This guy seems about as unflappable as they get, especially for a young goalie.

Congratulations to Braden Holtby and his entire family, who are on a hell of a ride right now.
