To say it's been a miserable year for the Browns would be an enormous understatement. The team has flat out sucked, Kellen Winslow Jr. openly blasted the team for letting staph run rampant through the locker room, Jamal Lewis accused teammates of quitting, GM Phil Savage sent a fan an f*** you email, Braylon Edwards has officially burned every bridge with the fans and Brady Quinn broke a finger two games into his career as a starting QB. But now things are getting even more interesting. Over the weekend, College Football Talk reported that Brady Quinn may have been nailed in the face with a weight by a teammate. As much as I would have loved to have written about that on Sunday, it was a tenuous report at best. However, today it's beginning to pick up some steam.
The Cleveland Examiner mentioned that the story was reported by WKYC-TV Channel 3 in Cleveland last night, and that Shaun Smith was the one who nailed Quinn. Although there's still some question as to whether Smith hit Quinn with a weight or a sucker punch. Either one works in my book.
And just to take this one step further, a commenter on The Big Lead says this is how it went down.

there’s truth to the story…and from someone i know who works for the browns (through a friend of a friend) here’s what ive heard.
brady and shaun were going back and forth just talking shit, brady says something about shaun’s wife, gets jacked in the eye. according to my dude, shaun was holding an ice pack to brady’s eye soon after saying, “you can’t say that shit, man.”
Yeah, come on Brady, everyone knows wives are off limits.
Just so you know, Romeo Crennel hasn't denied or confirmed the report, except to say that if it did indeed happen, it'll be kept in house. That's of course code for "this definitely happened."
Anyway, considering Smith was the one of the players Jamal Lewis supposedly pegged as a quitter, I'd have to think he's gone now this offseason. Of course, Braylon Edwards probably will be too, and God only knows what's going to happen to Winslow. And on top of all this, Romeo Crennel is definitely going to get fired.
Should be an awesome 2009 season for you, Brady.
