Brandon Inge Now Starting at CF and 3B, Hopefully That'll Make Him Happy
by CriticalFanatic

Brandon Inge was very upset this offseason about the acquisition of Miguel Cabrera. For the life of him, he couldn't figure out why the Tigers would want one of the game's very best starting at third base instead of a .236 hack.

Inge was quoted as saying:
"I'm not happy with it. I'm not happy at all," Inge admitted. "But my hands are tied. There's not much else I can do. And at the same time, I'm not going to be a cancer. I want to play baseball. I love playing the game of baseball."
Well, hopefully he's pleased with his playing time this afternoon.

Tuning into a little Extra Innings baseball this afternoon, I was a little startled to see the lineup Jim Leyland decided to go with.

Brandon Inge starting in CF AND at 3B. Aggressive.

Who knew that baseball was "game of Inge's".

The Tigers gave the Royals an Inge and they took it a mile.

I am here all week, please tip your waitstaff.

Apparently FSN uses Fantasy Eligibility to fill out their defensive alignments.

This will probably end up getting Leyland fired!  Management isn't going to like this move at all, not one bit.

Eh, they're playing the Royals. They only need 7 guys out in the field anyway.

As exhibited by the opening day loss and the current two-run deficit.  That's easily the worst pitching staff of all the playoff contenders.

Do they only have 2 pitchers in their starting rotation then?

What?  The two statements had nothing to do with eachother.  Verlander is one of the best pitchers in baseball and a likely Cy Young candidate by year's end.  They still lost behind him on opening day.  Doesn't bode well for the other guys that don't have a tenth of his talent.  It will only get worse for the Tigers if they don't hurry up and start scoring 10 runs a game.

You're right. But that wasn't my point. You claim that it's easily the worst pitching staff of playoff contenders, yet only 2 have pitched. Therefor they must only have 2 pitchers in their starting rotation.

I got what you meant, and the first two performances leave the door open for the other 3 to look good, but it won't be a recurring theme.
