Breaking Beer News: Coors and Miller to Unite

Casual SexMolson Coors and SABMiller will unite to form MillerCoors in an attempt to better compete with Anheuser Busch.

"Coors said the joint venture will allow both companies to compete for U.S. consumers who are "looking for greater choice and differentiation," as wine and spirits continue to entice beer drinkers and imports and craft beers garner a larger share of the market.

The companies said by combining their U.S. operations, the venture will be able to invest more in marketing its brands to consumers and compete more effectively with larger brewers like Anheuser-Busch and InBev NV S.A., which imports a large number of global beers into the U.S. and is the world's largest brewer by volume."

We'll have to wait and see how this will affect beer drinkers across the U.S. My guess is Americans keep drinking a lot.

Biggest news of the month as far as I'm concerned. So long as Miller Lite still tastes like Miller Lite I'll be a happy man.

As long as Miller doesn't replace Old Style with Coors Light I'm cool with this.

Crappy beer + Crappy beer > Crappy beer?

I think I'll stick with Stella, Guinness and whatever local microbrews I feel like trying wherever I am.

While I would certainly rather have a better beer i.e. Stella I firmly believe that there is a time and place for an icey cold Miller Light.  I just hope Miller continues to taste like Miller and Coors begins tasting more like Miller.  Will this change the High Life commercials?  I hope not because I think those are pretty darn entertaining.

Hmmm interesting...I knew Budwieser was dominating the market but not to as large of an extent that Miller and Coors would have to merge.  As long as they don't change my High Life and rename my stadium to Miller-Coors Park in Milwaukee I'll be just fine.
