According to multiple sources, the Wizards are trading Rashard Lewis and the 46th pick for Emeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza of the New Orleans Hornets.
Rashard Lewis’ 23.8 million dollar contract can be bought out for 13.7 million dollars before July 1st, which would save the New Orleans Hornets around 30 million dollars. This will leave New Orleans with unlimited cap space, the #1 pick named Anthony Davis, the #10 pick, and Eric Gordon. This also means that the Hornets will likely resign Chris Kaman to secure their center spot.
The trade also benefits the Wizards who will now have solid pieces to build around John Wall and Nene Hilario. Emeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza can immediately slide into the center and small forward slots.
With the draft less than two weeks away, this breaking news will hopefully be the catalyst for an exciting off-season ahead.
