Brett Favre Can Sign With The Vikings, And He Should
Let's Be Honest Everyone, Favre On The Vikings Would Be Pretty Awesome
If you've spent the last year reading me on this site, then you know I'm no Favre fan. I've dragged this guy through more mud than should be allowed. But upon hearing that Favre asked to be released from the Jets - not once, but twice! - and they actually did it, I'm extremely excited.

Why? Because I'm convinced that this has nothing to do with Favre wanting to retire as a Green Bay Packer. No, this has everything to do with him wanting to play for the Vikings.

And it makes perfect sense. Just think about the timing of everything.

Sanchez gets drafted by the Jets, New York goes nuts with euphoria over his selection. Percy Harvin gets drafted the Vikings. Favre then asks for his release from the Jets.

You seeing what I'm seeing? Favre saw the perfect escape route after Sanchez was drafted. After all, the Jets had found their QB of the future, and there was no need to hang on to 'ol Brett anymore. Percy Harvin to Minnesota was just an added bonus, yet another reason to don the purple and gold.

And let's all be honest with ourselves here, the Vikings biggest problem is that quarterback position. Remember, TJ Housmanzadeh opted to go to Seattle over Minnesota precisely because the Vikings said Tarvaris Jackson would be their QB in 2009. I don't think the addition of Sage "Helicopter" Rosenfels during the offseason is going to help matters either.

The truth is that this Vikings team is STACKED. They have AP in the backfield, Bernard Berrian at wide receiver, Percy Harvin everywhere else, and they have an extremely solid defense. This team is primed for a Super Bowl run if they could just get a QB who wouldn't kill them (although Favre does have a habit of doing just that, but whatever).

And let's also remember this, Favre is good friends with Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.

So come on people, who cares if the man is old. This is too perfect. He belongs on the Vikings, plus he can also try and stick it to the Packers two times in one year.

If I had to guess right now, I'd say there's an 80% chance this happens.

Frankly, I can't wait.

I'd just assume it's happening. That's the easiest way to deal with it.

Look first of all personally I cant stand  Favre  he annoys  me  beyond words you  retired from the  game. You had a  tantrum when you left  Green  Bay..Because  your skills  where  starting to show signs of  aging  on them. You got a   coach fired  in New York because they and management bet the bank on  you...Stop  being selfish and enjoy retirement and  stay gone from the NFL.And  besides do I really want to  hear  updates  about what you are  thinking about if  youre coming back or not.Besides  I am thinking how  many sets of Knee  pads  did you pass  out to the  folks at the  Four Letter network.

Farve was a decent QB in his day. We need a good QB NOW. Not the old, withered shell of what used to be. While yes, sticking it to Green Bay is the dream of any Vikings fan and this all sounds great in theory, the whole Brett Farve sucks as a QB now thing is something I have a problem with.

GOD I CANT STAND THIS GUY! NO MORE FAVRE!

Tavaris Jackson is faster, has a stronger arm and throws about as many ints as farve. So why spend the money? QB is not the key cog of this offense!

Favre was good, maybe great, but he'll never be as great as HE thinks he is.

How could any Vikes fan want Favre he is a mistake prone QB with your running game and defense, you need a simple QB who will just manage the game, and not throw ball up for grabs, Favre is done and is a joke.

You can't even imagine how crushed I would be if this happened.  Please Brett, stayed retired.  The last thing I need to see if the greatest player in franchise history lead the damn Vikings to a Super Bowl.

He has no mental game. QB isn't all about what you can do physically. He is too green and doesn't seem to be getting any better.

If Brett Favre's gonna play he better not play for the vikings and should play for a team other than the vikings. I'd rather see him retired then play again just retire. we will remember him as a Legendary Quarterback!

Brett favre has a way better arm then tavaris and the vikes shouldn't of picked that bum for the draft.

Based on what Favre did for the Jets last year (especially in December), why is this a big deal? His biggest cheerleader in the media (John Madden) has retired.

He was horrible in December, but he was being depended on to win games.  That wouldn't happen in Minnesota.  He could manage games, which he can still do.

When has he managed a game, he blew it for the Pack 2 yrs ago, he threw 2 int late in game to give the Gmen the win, he was lucky on the 1st one as the player who picked him fumbled the return back to Pack, but not to worry Farve threw another one next series to set up winning field goal for Gmen. the Vikes would be crazy to bring him in

Farve's "mental" game, when in doubt chuck it up. Even a green QB can do that! Of course a future HOFer that can't make a decision (retired not retired) is surely the answer for the vikings.

He wasn't managing a game back then.  He was that whole Packers team.  He won't be that in Minnesota.

He blew the game, what do you mean the whole Packers team, didn't they have the #3 defense in football that year. you gotta be blind. take the eye test it tells you Favre is done, the Jets would have been better off with Pennington last yr.

That same team went 6-10 last year.  They weren't any good because they are a bunch of nobodies.  That whole team was built around Brett Favre just like last year's team was built around Aaron Rodgers.  The Packers are awful.

They didn't go 6-10 because they didn't have Favre they went 6-10 because their defense went from on of the best to one of the worst .

Right, and the whole defense was a facade.  Offenses had to pass, pass, pass because they needed to keep up with our passing offense.  This year that didn't happen.  I'm not blaming Aaron Rodgers.  The same thing happened to the Bengals.  They had one good year built around the pass offense, but you can only get away with that for so long.  In Minnesota, Brett wouldn't be the focus of the offense, let alone the whole team.  Its a completely different situation and not even comparable.

I give up you win. if you really think Favre can help the Vikes more power to you

Brett Favre should stay retired and the Commissioner should tell him sorry once the papers are in this time that's it you are now retired, but if the league gives the OK and the NFLPA doesn't fight the idea let him play for the Vikings this season and if he decides after this up coming season to retire for a 3rd time that's when I'd say "Brett, Enough is Enough either you are retired or your not" and that's the time Commissioner Goodall should put his foot down with any player in the NFL hand in your retirement papers 3 times but not retire. Here's a phase everyone should know 3 strikes and you out , retire 3 times and stay out of the NFL, NHL, MLB, MLS, or any pro. league

Favre should really retire

I can just see the headlines 10 years from now..."Favre wants to try one more time".

I hope Favre stays in the game because if he does he will go to the Vikings and he will probably not return next year so the Vikings will have a good bank so they will only have to pay him for 1 year.

This is what I wanted to see last year.  He's a better option than what's than what's on their roster.  To be honest, I was really hoping McNabb could get traded there.  Philly will never appreciate him, and despite what people may think of their draft, I think it's going to prove that their management really doesn't know what it's doing.  Put him on the Vikes, and u have a team that could not just make a run, but could really pull the whole thing off.

Man - it's like watching Hulk Hogan in the WWE...If the Vikings want to live in the past...let them

Ok I live in Minnesota so i know the Viks inside & out now didn't Favre just rip up his arm or leg? and there and knowing the Vikings there is around a 40% chance of them actually trying to get him

I agree somewhat I love the Vikes and yes Philly doesn't have a forecast of starting to love McNabb. and Sage Rosenvelt isn't a 5 star quarterback and neither is Jackson I would say Sage is a 2 and a-half and TJack is a 3 Brett is around a 3 and a-half or a 4

That's great and all if I was even talking about Brett Farve...

Hmm....interesting proposition. I like it in theory (translation: for someone elses team), however, the idea of Vick on the Vikings makes me physically ill. Not to mention there is a small, very wee small chance, that Brett's going to stay retired and Vick will be denied entry in to the NFL. Please for the love of everything jebus make that happen...

This might be a year too late.  I'm a huge Vikings fan and I'd love if they could pick up a great QB and plug him in, but I don't think Favre is a "great" QB anymore.  Will his shoulder hold up?  Will he be willing to throw less often and hand off to AP more?  Perhaps to have a shot at the Packers he would.  It would be nice to have him come here and be successful, just to frustrate the GB fan base.
