Brett Favre Has "Itch To Play Again," And Has Contacted Green Bay Packers About Coming Back

Shocked SHOCKED To Hear Such Wild, Outlandish Speculation Regarding Favre
by CriticalFanatic

This hardly qualifies as breaking news, in fact, I wrote this post in the days after Brett Favre announced his first retirement on March 6th.

Even though Favre broke down into tears, which was admittedly convincing, I'd have put the percentage of NFL players that truly believed his announcement at five. Favre just can't quit football and more than anything, he can't let his fanbase suffer through an Aaron Rodgers season.
Is it merely coincidence that Favre slipped his "itch" to "sources" the day after Rodgers demanded that fans hop on his bandwagon? Doubtful. Favre has seen Rodgers in practice and knows he's not ready more than anyone.

But that's not why the great No. 4 is coming back. It's the same competitive fire that might only be matched by Michael Jordan. It ate away at MJ every day after his first second retirement. He knew he could still play, and play well, so why hang it up with any regrets? His constant back and forth may be annoying to the rest of us, but it's also hard for any of us to imagine being in those shoes.

The real question in all this back and forth mess is whether or not that disgusting kid from Connecticut will put his Brett Favre jersey back on?

UPDATE: Favre has responded and said ESPN's story "is all rumor." However, ESPN is sticking by their story and cornerback Al Harris also reiterated on NFL Live Wednesday afternoon that he heard Favre wants to play again.

UPDATE #2: ESPN has confirmed their original story, citing a Packers source who said Favre has spoken with coach Mike McCarthy about a return, but nothing has gotten to a substantive stage. Favre's brother said Brett has been working out and that his likelihood of returning is 50-50.

Why couldn't he just come up with a clever alias to get treatment for that itch like Michael Vick did?

The reason Jordan "retired" the first time was because he was going to be suspended for gambling. Had nothing to do with him wanting to retire.

Agreed, and I think there's more to it than that. It's been corrected to read second retirement, which was mostly Krause's wrong doing.

Sorry, but that story is such bull.  Like a commissioner would have that much power.

OMG! David Stern had a gun to my head and made me say that!  Charles Oakley is after me and is trying to kill me with his bare hands!!!!

Never mind.  All is well.

When asked for comment, Aaron Rodgers had this to say:

"Get Him A Body Bag! Yeeeaaaah!!!!"

(Sorry, I just watched the Karate Kid and that seemed appropirate for Farve)

If Favre comes back Aaron Rodgers should demand a trade..I watched this kid play 3 years at Cal and he is the real deal.  I was hoping to see Rodgers suceed here, this B.S should be shot down by Packer brass A.S.A.P

Well said. I'm sick of Favre doing this crap. If this was any other player we'd be killing him for not being honest with his team. Imagine Ocho Cinco doing this, he'd be crucified.

And Rodgers should demand a trade if Favre comes back. No question about it.

He might have retired but if he loves the game then let him play.  I am getting tired of hearing all these @$$holes on ESPN talk shi* about him.

Oh Please do show where that info is from. Surely you jest. That is purely speculation. May or may not be true. Believe what you want. But its ludicrous to even imply that is even close to what this Clown Favre is doing. But I guess if you had to retire in Hattiesburg, MS you would rather play.

You're insane if you think Favre is worth a #1. Especially since the Dolphins suck so bad, their #1 will be a top 10 pick.

On a different note, it's good to see that people are finally siding with me on this one... Just stay gone Brett.

I don't mind him wanting to come back, it is just the way he has gone about it for the past few years. Of you are coming back then say so, stop with all this well maybe I possibly could kind of want to come back stuff he pulls.
