This hardly qualifies as breaking news, in fact, I wrote this post in the days after Brett Favre announced his first retirement on March 6th. Even though Favre broke down into tears, which was admittedly convincing, I'd have put the percentage of NFL players that truly believed his announcement at five. Favre just can't quit football and more than anything, he can't let his fanbase suffer through an Aaron Rodgers season.
Is it merely coincidence that Favre slipped his "itch" to "sources" the day after Rodgers demanded that fans hop on his bandwagon? Doubtful. Favre has seen Rodgers in practice and knows he's not ready more than anyone.

The real question in all this back and forth mess is whether or not that disgusting kid from Connecticut will put his Brett Favre jersey back on?
UPDATE: Favre has responded and said ESPN's story "is all rumor." However, ESPN is sticking by their story and cornerback Al Harris also reiterated on NFL Live Wednesday afternoon that he heard Favre wants to play again.
UPDATE #2: ESPN has confirmed their original story, citing a Packers source who said Favre has spoken with coach Mike McCarthy about a return, but nothing has gotten to a substantive stage. Favre's brother said Brett has been working out and that his likelihood of returning is 50-50.
