Brett Favre May Take Packers $20 Million Offer, May Be Traded To Division Rival
It's Now Or Never
READ MORE:
NFL
It's officially high noon at Packers camp today. Roger Goodell has given the Packers and Favre this one last day to figure things out before Favre can show up at Packers camp and turn things into a complete circus. Which means whatever happens today will likely dictate what happens in this mess.

And as of right now, there are almost too many scenarios that could happen.

First off, Favre is reportedly seriously considering the $20 million marketing and licensing deal offer from the Packers and staying retired. The deal, which some people have called a bribe, is actually something the Packers have had available to Favre long before he even retired.

Although, admittedly, it would seem strange that a man who said he wasn't coming back to play football for the money would agree to a $20 million payout to not play football.

Next up, there's the question of whether Favre could be traded to the Bucs or the Jets. The Bucs looked like a real possibility after Jeff Garcia injured his leg yesterday, but he's currently listed as day-to-day. Meanwhile, there were reports that there were serious talks between Favre's agent and the Jets, but that Favre has since decided he doesn't want to play for them.

Lastly, there have been reports as well that the Packers would indeed consider trading Favre to either the Bears of Vikings as a last resort, which seems nuts. I still think the Packers would rather Favre shows up to camp, sets off a media circus, and is forced to ride the pine, rather than give him the chance to beat them twice a year.

What's funny about all of this is that as sick as I am of it, it's actually gotten fun again because Favre and the Packers are finally under the gun. And in all honesty, it would piss me off to no end if Favre took the $20 million deal and stayed retired. No, at this point, I want to see him on the Vikings or Bears. I want to see him piss off Packers fans. I want to see him go head-to-head with Rodgers. I want to see him throw another crushing playoff pick.

Will we get to see any of that? Who knows. But at least we're one step closer today.

Yeah, at this point I agree with you.  I don't want to see him take the money.  All along I've been trying to believe that he wanted to play again.  If he takes the money, I'll definitley lose some of the respect I still had for him.

I don't necessarily want to see him with the Bears or the Vikings, but I think if he's going to be true to what he has been saying, he's going to have to turn down the money.

If he takes the money -- he takes the money -- I doubt he's thinking about pissing you off.

He wanted to play for the Packers and cannot.  So, at this point -- who knows what will happen.  I doubt he will go to the Jets or Tampa.... so if wants the 25million marketing deal (which was NOT always available to him) then he should do what he wants at this point.

Personally, I'd love to see them have to pay him out -- and watch what happens this season.

I can't imagine him taking the money. The Pack should just roll the dice and let him go to Minnesota, they're so sure about Rodgers being the right choice, why not let him prove it on Monday night against Favre at Lambeau. And another thing, why are they so gung-ho for him to retire? Favre played an MVP like year last season, he holds all the records and has never missed a game. Has Rodgers even finished a game he played in? I didn't think so.

I totally agree with Fatmike.  If they know that Aaron Rogers is the Man in Green Bay, why not let him prove it on the field.  If they won't let Brett get a chance to compete for the starting job, why would they be so scared to play against a 'back-up QB' from another team.  The management in Green Bay is about as smart as Jerry Yang at Yahoo.

I have been talking to my boss to pay  me to retire, right now we are in the negotiating stage.....I don't think that it is going nearly as well for me as it is for Brett.......

At this point I'm just rooting for Brett to make life as miserable as possible for Ted Thompson, so turn it down Brett.
