Pat, while you are entitled to your view, I would just like to point out your stastitics don't include some important facts that seem subjective but aren't. Who did Young throw to? Do you think it helps having the best all time receiver ever to throw to? Or Manning. Manning has had the same core receiving tandem for nearly a decade. I think that makes all the difference in the world. I think it is to Favre's credit that he hasn't had a Rice or a Harrison to throw to, not a demerit. While Young and Manning had reliable receivers, after Sharpe exited and Freeman pudged out, who did he have? Brooks was good for a few years then was hurt and out. Bill Schroeder? I'd like to see Manning make a 1,000 yd receiver out of Schroeder in the same conditions. Also, Schroeder left the Packers and went to the Lions (and then Tampa) and did nothing. Freeman went the Eagles and did little of note. So I think it is important not to look at the cold numbers without some view toward what was accomplished given the talent. Give Favre Harrison and Wayne for the last nine years, what do you think his numbers would be, and his INT's? Give Favre five good years with Rice and a good # 2 Receiver and where do you think his %'s would be? Given all that Favre has had for the last 6-7 years (before this year) is 11 yd square ins to Driver, I think he's done a hell of a job. Harrison and Rice are in/will be in the HOF. The only way Freeman or Brooks or Schroeder get in the HOF is with a ticket. Makes a big difference who is on the other end.
I wouldn't say he's the "best" ever, but he certainly is the "greatest" ever. And yes, there is a difference, in my opinion. He has thrown too many INT's to be the "best", but he has accomplished more than enough to be considered the greatest.

I find it interesting when people talk about how many INT's he's thrown they fail to mention in comparison to the number of passes he has thrown it isn't that high.... no other QB is up there with him :)

So you're saying he's not the most talented, but he's the most accomplished?

Disclaimer: I don't want anyone to think I'm knocking Brett. Like I said, I think he's the greatest QB ever (for now), and his overall greatness is unparalleled.
"So you're saying he's not the most talented, but he's the most accomplished?"
Eh...somewhat, but not really. I don't think he's really lacking in talent, nor do I think he's the MOST accomplished. It's a little different.
I don't want to say he's JUST a "compiler", because clearly he has done some great things. But his longevity has as much to do with these records as his ability does. Clearly he's an amazing QB, has always been a great field manager, improviser, he has an incredible arm, and he can do anything he wants, and somehow makes it work.
If you want to pick a guy to have for a career, it would probably be Brett. If you want a guy for a season, or a single game, I would be more inclined to go for someone like Steve Young or Tom Brady.

As far as best/greatest... whatever...
He's the man and the records speak to it. :)
Like I said above, don't think that I'm knocking Brett. He's incredible. But I think that there are some QB's who are better, but who just didn't do it for as long as Favre.
And the INT stat...
Favre: 1 int per 30.6 attempts, 1 TD per 19.8 attempts
Steve Young: 1 int per 38.8 attempts, 1 TD per 17.9 attempts
Tom Brady: 1 int per 41.6 attempts, 1 TD per 18.4 attempts
Peyton Manning: 1 int per 35 attempts, 1 TD per 17.6 attempts
Like I said...none of these guys have been able to do it for anywhere near as long as Brett, and there's a lot to be said for his longevity. But I think that for the period of time in which they player (or are playing), these guys were/are better than Brett.

I don't agree.
I'd like to see Peyton and Tom's avg when they've thrown anywhere near what Brett has.... I don't think either of them will get there. But it'd be nice to see.

But even before Brett kept playing for years and years, he still didn't have ratios comparable to Brady, Manning and Young.
Even in Brett's first 7 full seasons, he had 1 TD per 17.6 attempts, and 1 INT per 32.3 attempts. So his TD's were coming as often as anyone else I mentioned, but he was still throwing more picks.
Once again, I'm not trying to knock Brett Favre at all. I just believe that he wasn't AS elite as some of these other guys...he just played at a very high level for a very long time.

That's pretty much my point... I'd love to see Tom Brady with zero offensive line... like say if he had less than 8-10 seconds to throw the freaking ball.....:)
