The end may be near for the Brett Favre fiasco. The Tampa Tribune has reported that the Packers and Buccaneers have a deal in the works that could result in Favre being a Buc as soon as Wednesday. If the deal is finalized, Favre will likely replace 2007 Pro Bowler Jeff Garcia. Garcia has already been outspoken about his role as the Bucs' starter in terms of Favre rumors, but Buccaneers head coach Jon Gruden loves quarterbacks, and has long been rumored to be drooling over the thought of Favre running his West Coast offense in Tampa Bay. Now it looks like it will actually happen. Ironically, Garcia replaced Favre last year in the Pro Bowl, and now Favre will replace Garcia as the starter in Tampa.
Once Favre is traded, the Aaron Rodgers Era will officially begin in Green Bay. Rodgers was drafted in the first round (24 overall) of the 2005 draft, and has been Favre's backup for his entire 3-year career so far. The Packers players have shown an excellent amount of support for Rodgers, and he has some huge shoes to fill in his first season as the starter.
Now, the natural questions arise:
Does this make the Bucs the favorites in the NFC? Or just the NFC South?
How will Rodgers do as the starter in Green Bay?
Who will win in the week 4 matchup, when the Packers play in Tampa?
How will the Packers' fans react, and how will they treat Rodgers if he starts to struggle?
Discuss.
