The Brewers and D-Backs will assault your eyes with these atrocities for "Italian Day"

The Brewers are celebrating "Italian Day" on July 1, apparently in honor of the huge Italian population in the greater Milwaukee area. Someone can feel free to inform me about whether or not there are a lot of Italian folks in Milwaukee, because I honestly have no idea. I tend to doubt it, but I could be wrong.

Anyway, they'll be rocking these jerseys with a decidedly Italian theme. Quite honestly, I think they missed the mark a bit.



The "Birrai" is apparently Italian for Brewers. I'm ok with that. It makes sense, right?

iD-backs, however, is just ridiculous. It sounds more like an Apple product than an Italian version of a baseball team name.

You'd think they could find a better translation... or even a translation at all.

As David Brown of Big League Stew points out, it's reminiscent of the NBA's horrific attempts to reach out to their Latino fan base by putting things like "Los Bulls" on their uniforms, instead of going all the way and using "Los Toros."

Nice attempt by the Brewers, but I'm thinking they might have wanted to go a different direction with those Diamondbacks uniforms.
