A new song dedicated to Fenway Park? It can't be THAT bad, can it?
In response to the headline: Yes. Yes it can.
I have no idea what possessed the Red Sox management to allow this video to be filmed at Fenway Park, but this was an absolutely terrible idea.
Singer Brian Evans recorded something that he apparently expects to be the new Red Sox anthem... or something.
Starting with the "Fenway!" chant, and then through the rest of the song, "At Fenway" is just terrible. I'm embarrassed to be a Red Sox fan.
Check it out:
My (least) favorite line is definitely when he says that "No matter where you sit, you're in heaven for a little bit."
The only way you could actually believe this is if you've never actually been to Fenway Park.
I love the place. I really do. The Green Monster seats are, in my humble opinion, the best in all of sports. The Budweiser right field roof deck tables are also an incredible experience.
With only around 37,000 seats, most of the seats are outstanding. But there are definitely a few seats that are anything BUT heaven for a little bit.
Do a quick google search for "Fenway Park obstructed view seats," and you'll immediately see quite a few views that are a lot closer to Hell than anything else. In fact, here's one:
That's a great view, as long as you don't want to see the pitcher. Ever.
Don't get me wrong, I love Fenway. I really do. But this song is terrible. Here's hoping that this is the last time we hear it.
