Brian Urlacher Calls Shawne Merriman Sack Dance "Stupid," Now It's On!
I'm sufficiently pumped for the NFL season to begin (read: fantasy football!) but I couldn't help but feel something has been missing in my excitement.

Found it. Trash talking has begun.

Thursday night the Colts and Saints go after it in what should be an offensively entertaining way to kick off the season. If it's a defensive brawl you're looking for, Sunday's Bears-Chargers will deliver. To add some extra fun, Brian Urlacher has called out Shawne Merriman and his dance.
"The thing is, if you're going to do it, do it all the time," Urlacher said. "Do it when you make a bad play too. You'll never see me doing any stupid [stuff] like that after a play. The only thing I'll do is get a little happy with my teammates."
Now all I ask is that Lovie Smith put Urlacher in for a few plays at fullback. Game On.

I don't think I would.  Just looks to me like he is "spazzing" out when he does it.  I'm not saying he shouldn't be able to dance after sacks, I'm just saying the dance itself looks dumb.  And like I said I know I have seen him do it a lot more often than just on sacks.  To me it would be like Chad Johnson or Terrell Owens doing their worst endzone dance ever after every first down and touchdown they get for 3 or 4 seasons in a row.  They change up their celebrations and put a lot of thought into it.

You honestly think it's a good dance?  I think it's absolutely stupid.  And he doesn't just do it as a sack dance, he does a more often than that.  I know I have seen him do it after tackling a running back for something like a one yard loss.

Yes, I definitely think it's stupid. But, I'm sure if I were a Chargers fan I'd love it.

Quit griping Urlacher and just play your game.   This just seems personal, but there's nothing like early s&#t- talking to get the season started.   I'm not a Chargers or Merriman fan for that matter, but there are plenty of other offensive & defensive players who have some silly dances or celebrations that are worse.   It's just part of the game, and it's what hypes that particular player up.

It's no worse than the "Ballin" celebration that the Giants did last season.

The dance is stupid.  I don't really like or feel it's necessary to celebrate every time you tackle someone or get a sack.  That's the job.  If I celebrated every time I repaired something at work, the other techs would think I was nuts.  Just do your job and shut up.  Quit acting like you've won the super bowl after every tackle or sack.  I don't mind a fist pump or a quick TD celebration, but I just get annoyed when players act like they've never tackled someone before. It's your job dude, and you get paid quite nicely to do it.
