Tiger Woods is the heavy betting favorite to win this weekend's British Open.

Tiger Woods is again the favorite to win another major—and by favorite I mean substantial favorite. But the odds are the same as always. Tiger is the favorite to win whatever major is going on, the media gets behind him, and of course he is out of contention by Saturday morning. It’s the same deal every time. Sure, Tiger will eventually win another major—and it might even be this weekend for all we know—but isn’t it Tiger we stopped expecting him to do so?
There are at least a couple dozen other world-class golfers that can win any given tournament at any given time. I understand that the sportsbooks have to make Tiger the favorite every time because sports bettors love to wager on him, but isn’t there much more value betting Phil Mickelson at +1500 odds or even taking a lesser-known player at +4500? Heck, there are a couple of golfers getting +100000 odds—that’s $100 to win $100,000!

Tiger Woods is the best athlete and more dominate the sport than Federer. Why? Musafir

Because whenever Tiger Woods plays in a major golf tournament/event, competing against a field about 150 children, who all have the ability and realistic expectation of winning without being upset.
