Brook Lopez Out for the Season
The Brooklyn Nets have lost Brook Lopez for the rest of the season with a broken right foot that he suffered during Friday’s loss against the Philadelphia 76ers. An MRI revealed that Lopez officially has been diagnosed with a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot.
Lopez injured the same right foot in 2011 and had screws placed in his foot to hold it together, but has been relatively healthy since then.
Lopez isn’t the most explosive big man in the world, but he carries a lot of weight on those feet at 275 pounds. When healthy, Lopez is one of the best centers in the NBA, so this is a significant blow to the Nets who are already banged up and thin.
However, the Nets do have some depth in the middle with Andray Blatche and Reggie Evans, but with Kevin Garnett in the twilight of his career, the Nets cannot afford to have any more injuries down low.
