Mandatory Credit: Eric Bolte-USA TODAY SportsWhen the trade deadline struck the teams scrambled at last minute offers and to get deals finalized. In those moments players found themselves in new teams and started the tedious journey of adjusting to a new place.

The same went for Andrej Meszaros who was traded but after the traded deadline, a thing which made his transition even more problematic. It has been a week now since he has been traded to the Boston Bruins and even now he has but had two full practices with the team. If anything, time on the ice is the best way to get to know your team in the NHL.

But Meszaros said that he was doing well and his adjustment was going smoothly. He added that he was doing whatever he could to get to know the team but had limited time.

“It’s kind of tough when you don’t practice much. We’ve had a lot of games and a lot of games coming up, and you try to rest, too,” he said. “So I try to watch video as much as I can, before and after the game, talk to the coaches about what I did wrong, what I did good. It’s been good for me and I really like it.”

But Meszaros is not alone and there are elements in the team which will help his transition go faster and smoothly. When the Bruins had their first game with him in it, he had Zdeno Chara in the team, with whom he ahd played before. When he was a rookie back at Ottawa Senators, Chara was his defense partner.

Meszaros said that Chara was a remarkable player and was helping him however he could to adjust.

“It feels great. Obviously, he’s a great player and he helps you out a lot. He’s talking to you every time you’re on the ice and that’s great. Even after the shifts, we’ll talk about it and try to do better,” he said. “He’s great. He’s helping me a lot and I’m sure he’s helping a lot of guys, too.”
