Blog Photo - Bruins Even Up Stanley Cup Finals in OvertimeI admit. I had never heard of Boston Bruins winger Daniel Paille before. This even though this was his 8th NHL season and fourth with the Bruins. In his career, he's never scored more than 19 goals in a season, and in this shortened season, tallied 10 goals and 7 assists while playing 46 of the 48 games.

None of those meager numbers mean a thing now though, as Paille scored 13:48 into overtime to win Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals for Boston and even the series up at 1 game a piece. Video of the goal is below.

It was another resilient performance for the Bruins, who had to survive a first period onslaught. The Blackhawks out shot Boston 19 to 4 in that opening period, but could only manage one goal, a wrister by Patrick Sharp. From there, goalie Tuukka Rask did his job, not allowing another goal and making 33 saves total. Chris Kelly tied it up for the Bruins in the second period.

The series thus heads to Boston on Monday night for Game 3 at 1-1. Given how close it's been so far, it's only fitting.
