Absalon-US PRESSWIREHe first appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated back when he was only 16 years old, but now Bryce Harper is starting to truly live up to the hype that has surrounded him ever since.

In a rather hotly contested race, Harper won the National League Rookie of the Year award, narrowly edging out Wade Miley of the Diamondbacks.

Harper had 16 first place votes, 6 seconds place votes, and 6 third place votes. He was the only player to appear on all 32 ballots, for a total of 112 points.

Miley finished with 12 first place votes, and racked up 105 points

Todd Frazier and Wilin Rosario got the remaining first place votes. Norichika Aoki, Yonder Alonzo, Matt Carpenter and Jordan Pacheco were the other players who received votes.

Frist, a big shout out to Bryce Harper, congrats. It was a real pleasure watching him live several times this year, and we look forward to a full season next year! GO NATS!

If this kid stays healthy, the HoF will call his name. I thought he may have be hyped up by my brother-in-law till I seen him in Spring training last year. Congrats to Bryce on winning.
