Thursday gave just about every bubble team a grand opportunity to play themselves into the NCAA Tournament. Just about all of them failed to do so. Dayton lost to Xavier. They're out.
Arizona State lost to USC. No thanks to the officials. Due to everyone else losing, they might barely slide in.
Florida lost to Alabama. Out.
Oregon lost to Washington State. Probably out.
UMass lost to Charlotte. I'd have them out. Arizona State's clearly a better team.
Ole Miss lost to Georgia on a buzzer beater. Out before today, out now.
New Mexico lost to Utah. Who knows? I wouldn't have them in over the likes of a South Alabama or Baylor. Speaking of which ...
Bears lost to a bad Colorado team. With all these teams losing, I'd still have them in.
So, yeah. Figure this one out big bad Selection Committee. As for the rest of the important games.
West Virginia 78, Connecticut 72 As I said yesterday morning when predicting the upset, Joe Alexander doesn't know how good he can be. Or maybe he does. 34 points in an extremely impressive and unguardable effort.
USC 59, Arizona St. 55 We've already mentioned the joke that is Pac-10 officiating. Outside of that, though, you have to be encourage by the Trojans starting to play solid defense. This keeps up, they'll make a good run here and throughout the next month. Far too talented on offense, they just need some consistent D.
Pittsburgh 76, Louisville 69 I'll be curious to see how the committee seeds Pitt. They're far better than their records and results indicate. Now healthy, yet another run to the Big East finals would be no surprise. They've only been there 6 out of the 7 years. This is a 4-seed that could make for a very dangerous 5 or 6 that they'll probably get.
