We, as Americans, often forget how lucky we have it. Even though you hear people complain about what a poor stadium Shea is, or how Candlestick Park (or whatever the hell they call it these days) is a crime against humanity, at least these stadiums are sturdy and, you know, don't fall to pieces during the middle of a game.

The same is not true in Colombia, my friend. Yes, the country best known for its ultra violent soccer fans and drug trafficking apparently isn't up to code on its building permits.

This shocking video of an improvised bull fighting ring literally imploding on itself is almost like watching dominoes fall. Fortunately, no one was killed in the accident, but more than 80 people had to go to the hospital. Which, if my memory of Colombian hospitals serves me correctly, probably isn't such a good thing.

On top of all this, there was an actual bull fight going on. So while you were trying to free yourself from the mass of people on top of your head, there was also an angry bull staring you down. Or as Colombians call it, Tuesday.

Having spent some time abroad - and I'm not talking about Europe - it's rather startling how poorly designed many stadiums are. Needless to say you sometimes feel as if your life is in danger, and it has nothing to with the guy carrying a machete next to you (well, maybe that has something to do with it).

So next time you're mad about your home team's stadium, just remember, at least it isn't collapsing on your head.

Wow, what an ignorant, arrogant post! First, that's not a real bullfight. That's not a bull, but calf. Regardless of the revulsion that bullfighting produces on me, equating this event to a real bullfight is like equating a Little League Baseball match with an actual MLB game. This is far from the real thing, and the "bull" is barely dangerous. The same is true about the "ring": this improvised structure is akin to the simple structures you see in parks where little league kids play, with some boards around the "arena" to give the impression of a real (but very small) ring. Equating such a structure to a real stadium (or a real bullring for that matter) is ridiculous and shows astounding ignorance. Of course, the organizers should be ashamed and fined for allowing so many people to access those benches. But believe me, if so many people assisted a little league game, the benches would also collapse. You should be ashamed of posting such an arrogant post that perpetuates stupid prejudices. You are only feeding the infamous ignorance of the American middle class who will read your post and believe that what it says is accurate. Shame on you.
