Bust Open another Bubbly: Yanks Digest Twinkies
The train keeps rolling. On a day every Boston fan would’ve rather bathed in slop, the New York Yankees partied into the night Sunday after sweeping the Minnesota Twins at the Metrodome to advance to the ALCS. One of the most frustrating hexes was lifted during the series, as Alex Rodriguez redeemed himself by delivering in the deciding game with the first of back-to-back homers by him and Jorge Posada. The guy barely showed up to postseason games in the past. Oh, and the Red Sox were eliminated from the playoffs by the Angels the same day (which is cause for one more round of drinks!).

Baseball’s version of the “Redeem Team” has impressed even the hastiest of haters. They’re the caviar of the Yankee franchise; elegant, and an appetizer to the main course of a renewed winning tradition. The only way they can lose is if they divide from within. One of the closest-knit teams since those of the late 90s, New York blasted through the second half of the season without even a thought of looking back. They’re finally piecing together their talents to form an offensive masterpiece that not even Michelangelo can replicate. Sure they crank home runs like they’re lay-ups, but small-ball is the focus the Yankees resurrected this season. All this showed in the division series against the Twins.
